Bathymetry of Ipala Volcanic lake

This was a research project with the objective to map the bottom of a unique lake atop of the crater of a volcano in Guatemala. The goal was to estimate the volume of water for conservation purposes.  We used a sonar to measure the depth of the lake in thousands of control points, then we applied spatial interpolation and 3D modeling to model the bottom. A follow-up project used this information to draft a conservation plan.
